Poster and Demo Minute Madness

By 23:59 PST, November 1st, please submit your One-Minute Madness slides or video.

In the session following lunch on Monday afternoon of the ITS conference, November 8, 2010, from 13:30-14:30 there will be a combined Posters and Demos Minute Madness. An author for each poster or demo will present a 1 minute (60 seconds) or less preview talk about the main idea in your poster or demo. How you use this one minute presentation time is up to you. We will strictly enforce the 1-minute time limit. We encourage you to fill the minute to give the audience an overview of your poster or demo. "Advertise" your poster or demo so that people will want to come to see your demo or talk to you about your poster. This type of event is always a lot of fun! You might want to be a little creative in your presentation too.

We will collect and assemble all authors' minute madness slides and create one joint slide deck with automatic timings. In order for this to work, please submit your slides in accordance with the following criteria:

  • The joint slide deck will be in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 for Windows. Your slides need to be compatible with this format. If you submit other formats, we do not guarantee that they will be imported correctly. For best results convert and test them on PowerPoint 2007 for Windows.
  • If you use multiple slides, include auto timing for your slides to advance as you planned (1 minute for all slides maximum!).
  • You may include animations. If you do, please embed auto timing.
  • You may include video. If you submit a video file, you must submit a video which can be embedded in a PowerPoint slide. If you submit only a video, it will be enlarged to full screen and embedded in a PowerPoint slide. You must use standard video and audio codecs, such as DivX, WMV, or the TechSmith Screen Capture Codec. Do NOT use Quicktime or RealVideo. If your video does not work on our system, we will contact you for slides without video.

By 23:59 PST, November 1st, send an email with a link to your slides / video file to Mark Hancock at mark.hancock@uwaterloo.ca. In your email, include your paper's title, submission number, a list of the authors and affiliations, indicating the presenting author.

At the conference:

On Monday afternoon the Posters and Demos Minute Madness session will be the session directly after lunch, which starts at 13:30. Please arrive in the room at 13:00 and please have the presenting author come to the front of the room by 13:00 to meet with us. We will get you all lined up and ready to go.

Thanks for your attention to these details, and we look forward to seeing you in Saarbrücken!
