Tutorial 1: Qualitative Evaluation as an Interaction Design Approach
Speaker:
Sheelagh Carpendale
Time
Sunday November 7th, 09:00-10:30
Abstract
In our research community the importance of ethnographically-inspired empirical research is receiving increasing recognition. Often interaction design papers cite such studies in their discussions on design inspiration, design goals or design challenges. In this tutorial we will discuss the practice of observation in qualitative research and will explore at least two of the possible levels of activity at which observations can be conducted. We will consider the challenges of analyzing the qualitative data we generate and explore possible ways of using our qualitative results in our interaction design processes.
